Jayhawks Fall to Mid-Michigan Lakers
Muskegon couldn't keep pace with the Mid-Michigan Lakers, dropping a 9-5 contest on Thursday.
Nick Wilson got the start for the Jayhawks, allowing 13 hits and nine runs over seven innings while striking out four and walking one.
The Jayhawks tallied nine hits in the game. Ryne Christensen led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance. Carter Hughes, Bryce Luevano, Koby Windeler, Christian Kennedy, and Christensen each drove in a run.
Hughes' Grand Slam Lifts Jayhawks Over Lakers
Carter Hughes powered Muskegon to a 10-6 comeback win over Mid-Michigan on Thursday, driving in four runs with a grand slam to left in the third inning.
The Jayhawks overcame an early 5-0 deficit, erupting for nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the third. Gabe Shooltz added a solo homer in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Sean Shooltz earned the win, giving up 10 hits and six runs over 6.1 innings with three strikeouts and three walks. Joshua Thull closed it out for the save.
Muskegon recorded nine hits. Leadoff hitter Lawson Doyle went a perfect 3-for-3, while Shooltz added two hits in three at-bats.
Bats Stay Hot in Narrow Loss to Mid-Michigan
Despite a strong offensive showing, Muskegon fell short in a 12-10 loss to Mid-Michigan on Saturday. Both teams collected 10 hits.
The Jayhawks struck early, scoring six runs on five hits in the top of the second to take a 6-2 lead. Lawson Doyle's two-run single highlighted the inning. In the third, Christian Kennedy was hit by a pitch and a passed ball brought in another run.
Koby Windeler started for Muskegon, allowing eight hits and eight runs (three earned) over four innings. He struck out eight and walked three.
Gabe Shooltz led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4. Doyle and Ryne Christensen each drove in two runs.
Jayhawks Rally Late to Edge Mid-Michigan
Muskegon pulled ahead late to earn a 4-3 win over Mid-Michigan on Saturday.
With the game tied at three in the top of the seventh, Christian Kennedy delivered the go-ahead RBI single. The Jayhawks also scored three in the fourth, sparked by a Lawson Doyle walk, a Ryne Christensen single, and a Gabe Shooltz triple. Shooltz later doubled in the sixth to give Muskegon a 3-2 lead.
Nathan Dodd was sharp on the mound, tossing a complete game. He allowed five hits and three runs (two earned), striking out six without issuing a walk.
Shooltz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the offense.
