Muskegon Community College Stymied by Grand Rapids Community College
Muskegon Community College struggled to keep pace with Grand Rapids Community College, falling 15-2 on Friday.
Nick Wilson got the start for the Jayhawks, allowing 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned) over five innings, while striking out four and walking three.
Offensively, Dayton Thomas and Christian Kennedy each drove in a run. Kennedy led the way at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3. The Jayhawks also turned one double play.
Doyle Shines, But Jayhawks Fall to Raiders
Despite a strong performance from Lawson Doyle, who went 3-for-4 with singles in the first, fifth, and sixth innings, Muskegon fell 9-5 to Grand Rapids on Friday.
Sean Shooltz took the mound for the Jayhawks, surrendering 13 hits and nine runs (six earned) over seven innings. He did not record a strikeout but walked two.
Muskegon turned one double play defensively.
Jayhawks Shut Out by Raiders
Muskegon dropped a 5-0 decision to Grand Rapids on Saturday.
Koby Windeler started for the Jayhawks, allowing just two hits but five runs (one earned) across six innings. He struck out three and issued nine walks.
Lawson Doyle led the offense with a 1-for-3 effort at the plate. The Jayhawks turned one double play.
Muskegon Rallies Late to Beat Grand Rapids
After trailing by four, Muskegon came storming back to defeat Grand Rapids 8-6 on Saturday.
Lawson Doyle got the Jayhawks going with a game-tying single in the top of the third. The comeback was completed in the seventh inning, when Muskegon exploded for six runs on four hits. The highlight came from Dayton Thomas, whose two-run single put the Jayhawks in front.
Noah Morgan earned the win with 1.2 innings of hitless relief. He allowed no runs, walked two, and struck out none. Javanni Johnson got the start, going five innings and giving up six hits and six runs (two earned), while striking out six and walking four.
The Jayhawks collected 10 hits in total. Aidan Buchberger and Doyle each had two hits, while Gabe Shooltz and Doyle both drove in a pair of runs.
