Jayhawks get massive win over Mid Michigan
Balanced scoring and team defense prove to the difference in win
The Lady Jayhawks hosted Mid-Michigan at home Wednesday night for a much-anticipated rematch after the Lakers beat the Jayhawks last month by twenty points. To say the least, the Jayhawks were seeking some redemption at home much like two seasons ago when they beat Mid Michigan at home.
With it being their second matchup, the Jayhawks came out on fire and scoring. Much of the game consisted of both teams battling up and down the court going point for point. At halftime, the score was 36-37 with Mid in the lead. The Jayhawks came out solid immediately after halftime. Knowing that this was the game to win for both teams- the pressure was on. Between a couple risky fouls and almost injuries, the Jayhawks pulled through in the end to extend their lead and beat the Lakers 66-57.
Top players of the game were Anna Lundquist (#30) with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Tyvi Davis (#23) with a double double of 19 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Arrionna Willams (#20) with 10 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. And Kennedy Adam's (#11) with 4 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
Head coach Jason Cooper was pleased with the team's performance. " We had a great win tonight! I'm so proud of the team! They were locked in the whole game, especially on the defensive end. I am just so proud of them."
The Jayhawks travel to Kirtland this Saturday and will play at 1:00pm
