The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks bowling teams competed at the 2026 NJCAA Bowling National Championships this weekend, representing MCC on the national stage against some of the top junior college bowlers in the country. While the teams faced tough competition and did not place among the top teams overall, several Jayhawks delivered strong individual performances throughout the tournament.
On the men's side, Ashton Tjapkes led the way for the Jayhawks. Tjapkes finished 40th in the All-Events standings out of 137 bowlers, a solid showing in a highly competitive field. In doubles competition, the Jayhawks had two teams finish near the top of the standings. The duo of Ashton Tjapkes and Phoenix Hoffmeyer placed 11th out of 64 doubles teams, while Michael Hanson and Ethan Hite followed closely behind with a 12th-place finish.
The women's team also saw notable individual success. Bianca Kammers led the Jayhawks by finishing 20th out of 84 bowlers in the individual standings, while Lauren Prokopec placed 32nd. The pair also competed together in doubles, finishing 16th out of 44 teams, highlighting a strong partnership and competitive performance at the national level.
