Jayhawks With Huge Defeat Over North Central Michigan College 77 - 57
The Muskegon community college Jayhawks defeated the North Central Michigan College Timberwolves 77 - 57 Saturday evening in conference play.
The first half was an even affair, with both teams scoring a total of 35 points. Muskegon faced some foul trouble early, as three different Jayhawks starters headed into halftime with two personal fouls.
But the Jayhawks' strong second half propelled them to victory, as they out scored the Timberwolves 42-22. The win is the Jayhawks third conference victory (3-1).
Freshman point guard Darryl Thompkins led the team in scoring with 18 points. He also had six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Sophomores Ny'Zhem Marshall and Lamarkis Graham both poured in 16 points. Marshall accumulated 10 rebounds and swatted away 5 shots for an impressive two-way double-double performance. Freshman guard David Cross added 13 points.
The win moved the Jayhawks record to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Jayhawks hope to continue their conference success with a victory next Monday, January 26th in a make-up conference game against Montcalm Community College at Montcalm. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
