The Jayhawks fell to the Norse from Bay Community College 71-45 in conference play Saturday evening. The Jayhawks struggled against Bay's suffocating defensive gameplan, forcing the Jayhawks to take tough shots and they were unable to get easy looks inside the paint. The Jayhawks were held to a season low 20-point total in the first half. Bay led 31-20 after 20 minutes of play.
Unfortunately, the Jayhawks suffered the same offensive woes in the second half, scoring just 25 points to the Norse 40. Freshman guard David Cross led the Jayhawks in scoring with 11 points. Sophomore forward Joel Katembo scored 8 points, snagged six rebounds and had two steals. Freshman Jamarion Taylor finished with nine points.
The loss moves the Jayhawks to 8-8, 2-1 in conference play. The Jayhawks hope to capture a win in their next conference matchup on Wednesday, January 21st at Montcalm Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
