Jayhawks Drop Close One to Mid-Michigan, 7-5
Despite jumping out to an early five-run lead, Muskegon Community College couldn't hold off a late rally from the Mid-Michigan Lakers, falling 7-5.
The Jayhawks got off to a fast start, plating three runs in the first inning on a three-run homer to left by Koby Windeler. They extended their lead to 5-0 in the second when Christian Kennedy delivered an RBI single and Brock Thornton drew a bases-loaded walk.
Mid-Michigan chipped away and eventually tied the game before taking the lead for good with a key double in the sixth inning.
Noah Morgan got the start for Muskegon, allowing five runs on seven hits over three innings. He struck out one and walked four.
Windeler led the offense with three RBIs, going 1-for-2 on the day. Kennedy set the tone from the top of the order, going 2-for-4. Defensively, the Jayhawks played error-free baseball, with Lawson Doyle recording a team-high five chances in the field.
